Geologically speaking Iceland is a neighbour of Newfoundland, a fellow island adrift on the cold Atlantic. It's stark and volcanic carved landscape combined with the local's respect for things unseen make it a magical destination for any artist. Someday I will be there to explore in person but in the meantime I found this abandoned house on several websites. Obviously a curiosity for many photographers this house typifies the same story I find in Newfoundland. Abandonment and a slow disintegration. Who built it and how did they make a living in such a barren looking environment? Where did they go and why? Will this house also slowly become one with it's surroundings?
